Tablet pitfall

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

One of the problems of the Tablet is that one of us tends to work ALOT of the time. Why? Well, a certain dogged personality coupled with the flexibility of the hybrid tablet allows one to work at a desk, on the couch, in a chair or in bed. It can be good and bad. And it simply is.

Tablets and Rebels

Monday, August 15th, 2005

One of our hobbies is digital photography. And, yes, our Tablet comes in very handy. We tend to shoot in RAW with our Canon Digital Rebel and this takes up a lot of space on our 1 Gigabyte memory card. So on trips around Nova Scotia and beyond we take our tablets so that we can transfer our pictures from the memory card to the tablet.

Once we come home we move them to the desktop where they undergo "treatment" by software such as Adobe Photoshop or Elements and Phase One. It can be very labour intensive and will be discussed later. As a matter of fact, it is so labour intensive we may not have time to discuss it. Ever.

The Viral Map/Tablet Zero

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

It all started with one single Tablet PC (tablet zero) during the waning days of Summer 2004 in Toronto. Within a month there were two Tablets. (Something to do with monkeys, grapes, and cucumbers.) Then a move from Toronto to Halifax and within 10 months 5 collegaues choose to purchase Tablet PC’s. All purchased HP TC1100’s except for one Siemens Tablet PC. The light weight (3 lbs without key board) and the hybrid nature of the TC1100 are great features.

Keji, Nova Scotia

Our tablets do not like to be left at home. Tablets that camp together in Canadian National parks stay together!
